Ingredients:

For the Dough:
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F or 45°C)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
For the Filling:
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Dough:
  • In a mixing bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  • Add sugar, melted butter, eggs, salt, and 4 cups of flour. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface, gradually adding more flour until it's smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
2. Make the Filling:
  • In a bowl, mix together the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until well combined. Set aside.
3. Roll and Fill:
  • After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle (approximately 16x21 inches).
  • Spread the filling mixture evenly over the dough's surface, leaving a small border around the edges.
4. Roll and Cut:
  • Starting with the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log.
  • Cut the log into 12 even slices using a sharp knife or dental floss.
5. Bake:
  • Place the rolls in a greased baking pan, cover, and let them rise again for 30-45 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
6. Make the Frosting:
  • While the rolls bake, prepare the cream cheese frosting by beating together the softened butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth and creamy.
7. Frost and Serve:
  • Once the cinnamon rolls are done baking and slightly cooled, generously spread the cream cheese frosting over the warm rolls.
